50 Completely random thoughts

1. I wish Google Maps had an “Avoid Ghetto” routing option.
2. More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can’t wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that’s not only better, but also more directly involves me.
3. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.
4. Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you’re going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you’re crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.
5. That’s enough, Nickelback.
6. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.
7. Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the "people you may know" feature on facebook people that I really do know, but I deliberatly choose to not be friends with?
8. Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn’t work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ’s. We just figured it out. Today’s kids are soft.
9. There is a great need for sarcasm font.
10. Sometimes, I’ll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the f was going on when I first saw it.
11. I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I’ll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone’s laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I’m still the only one who really, really gets it.
12. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
13. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
14. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.
15. Was learning cursive really necessary?
16. Lol has gone from meaning, “laugh out loud” to “I have nothing else to say”.
17. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
18. Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.
19. My friends Municipal League baseball team is named the Stepdads. Seeing as none of the guys on the team are actual stepdads, I inquired about the name. He explained, “Cuz we beat you, and you hate us.” Classy.
20. Whenever someone says “I’m not book smart, but I’m street smart”, all I hear is “I’m not real smart, but I’m imaginary smart”.
21.How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear what they said?
22. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!
23. Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using ‘as in’ examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my farther-in-laws name to a salesman and said “Yes that’s G as in…(10 second lapse)..ummmGoonies
24. While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it…thanks Mario Kart.
25. MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
26. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
27. I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.
28. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
29. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.
30. Whenever I’m Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don’t mind if I do!
31. Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?
32. Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I’m from, this shouldn’t be a problem….
33. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you’ve made up your mind that you just aren’t doing anything productive for the rest of the day.
34. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don’t want to have to restart my collection.
35. There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
36. I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
37. “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this ever.
38. I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There’s so much pressure. ‘I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren’t watching this. It’s only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?’
39. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dammit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What’d you do after I didn’t answer? Drop the phone and run away?
40. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
41. When I meet a new girl, I’m terrified of mentioning something she hasn’t already told me but that I have learned from some light internet stalking.
42. I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it’s on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.
43. Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles…
44. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists, and I ride.
45. Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still do not know what time it is.
46. It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.
47. I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
48. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I’d bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time…
49. I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.
50. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
Thank you.

Hardest thing...

I have decided the hardest thing about not living in SLC, is not being able to enjoy a home Ute game, Brian and I were (are) extreme Utah Football fans, we went to every home game, and enjoyed every minute of it. I miss SLC for the reason and this reason only. Getting ready for game day was a perk in our home. Now all I have to do is watch it on TV, no kettle corn, no walks to the stadium (we only lived a few blocks from it), no after parties, most days I'm working on game days, and only get to watch the very end. I have been going through my photos weeding out ones I shouldn't keep and I came across these, which are both funny and adorable... Unfortunately the Utes aren't doing so great this year their no longer undefeated... I don't know what we are going to do, well as long as we beat BYU, we will have a successful season.

Where does time go?

I know, I know, it's been since June, I don't even know if people still read this... We did a lot of great things this summer, from riding the Hiawatha trail, to hiking, to camping in the big hole. Instead of boring everyone I'll just post our pictures from the summer...

In early June Brian and I went for a drive, and came across this... A huge snow bank, we were acturally behind the grater who plowed through this, it was huge...

Brian and I hiked several places this summer, my favorite was Opal Lake... the dogs always like it too.

We also figured out how to use the timer on our camera on this day...

In July Tam and George took us on a mini Vacation to Kellog and Cour De Alene. On the way we rode the Hiawatha trail... It was so cool you ride through mile long tunnels and over bridges. Anyone who wants to experience this trail let me know... I would love to do it again...

Mitch and Mason came to see us this summer, Mitch caught his first fish!!

Mitch and Mason at Horse Creek Hot Springs...

The rest of horse creek hot springs...

Camping on the big hole, on the map I found this lake that didn't have any numbers or any directions, but me being the TOM, TOM I am, we found Schultz Res. really cool a lot larger than I thought.

The bear we saw on one caming trip... it looks like a teddy bear, I promise you it's not fake.

I always take pictures of them while we are driving... Rocco

Rally

Someone's grave on a hike...

Just a pretty picture...

And thats it, I will try to post more than just post once every three months...

Always a new adventure...

So, I've been busy, losing a cook caused me to take on cooking 4 days a week, along with still waiting tables 4 days a week. 15 and 16 hour days are tough, even on a young gal like myself. But I'm surviving, I was able to find a cook, so I won't be doing doubles anymore and I should be able to take days off again. Brian and I still have been able to take sometime to ourselves. We went on our first horseback ride as a couple, Brian's first ever. I love it, I think I want a horse, Brian shot that idea down, so I will settle with going with Caleb and Hannah, who are very good friends we were able to meet here, it's nice to have someone close to your age, that you don't work with everyday.
Anywoo they took us horse back riding, while actually Caleb did, they were unable to catch Hannah's horse, long story.
It was a little cloudy and we were a little afraid of rain, but it was perfect, no rain, and it wasn't too hot. So there go the three of us, I can tell Brian was a little nervous, since he'd never been on a horse, but he wasn't about to show is anxiety to me, oh no, not even after 10 years. We were informed that Brian was going to be riding the 26 year old horse. Which turned out to be very good. We got saddled up, (is that the right term?) And off we went, on a trail, that honestly in some spots I probably wouldn't have walked, but the horses were great. Brian rode Elvis (the 26 yr old), I rode Duke (the stubborn horse) story coming shortly, and Caleb rode scar.

Here we are in the peaceful woods enjoying the outside, I hadn't had a day off in over a week, doing double most days, I have learned to appreciate the time I get away. Caleb informed me early on, that Duke (my horse) is a piggy... he eats everything he sees. Let me tell you, he was not lying. It was too funny every chance he got that horse was eating something, it didn't matter if it was a pine tree he went for it. Caleb asked me to try to prevent this, for the fact it can cause him to trip, I tried and shortly realized I'm not preventing this huge horse of doing anything, if he goes down I go with him.

While this is happening I'm ever so slyly checking on Brian who I notice is a few steps behind us, when I say a few I mean a few... for example.

Caleb and I would talk and talk, about the most random things, and then stop and wait for Brian, who was having such a great time. Elvis had two speeds, stopped, and very slow. Which was perfect for him to learn on.

I on the other hand had Duke who is as stubborn as me... He liked to be right on the horses ass in front of us, and then at random times would just stop, and wait and wait and wait, and then he would decided to catch up, but not by just walking to catch up, oh no, he would full on sprint to catch up, I will admit the first time he did it I was caught off guard but I laugh my head off. The second, third and fourth time he didn't catch me not expecting it, however it was still just as fun and amusing. We got to the top of the trail and saw a couple of cow elk who looked like they had just calved. We were about 3/4 of the way down and Duke decided to stop, and I mean stop, he wasn't going any further. Caleb informed me he was out of shape and this was his first trail ride of the year... Sorry Duke. So Duke and I had to be ponied out, which basically means Caleb had a rope that pulled us out. So I was able to get more pictures since technically I didn't have to pay attention. Fun times.

The end of the afternoon, three horses asses...

Here are the slow pokes.

Brian and Elvis, Brian wanted me to get their good side.

No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth...

Running a town has its perks, I get to see amazing people every day, they are part of my life, however running a Cafe has it's downsides, it's like having a baby that never starts to crawl and keeps pooping all over it's self. I'm working doubles, and trying to prepare for the busy season of fires, and catering. I promise you soon, for anyone who reads this I will be posting fun posts, for example, Brian and his first horseback ride, I want to go every week! And cute pics of Brian and I. Life is good, work is hard but it's what you make of it that counts. Did I just make that up? Anywoo it's late and I open in the morning so it's off to bed for me.

Sweet dreams!

Happy Birthday!!!

This post is for one person, and one person only. I'm wishing my husband and best friend a happy birthday. I have known him for 13 years been with him 10 years and married to him 3 years. I gave him the opition of doing anything he wanted, what do you think he picked, a simple weekend at the Ranch. It was a lazy day with his grandma, walks with the dogs, freesbie, and just being in a peaceful environment.
For his birthday I got him fly fishing lessons, and a fly book for all of his flies, if you can't tell he's into fly fishing.

Brian in Vegas, notice two things, one how young he looks, two the 12 pk of coors light.

Stealhead Fever

So spring steal head is here again, that time of the year. It was an okay season, a little short and the economy isn't helping. We were able to get some fishing in ourselves. "Steal head fever" occurs after a person catches their first steal head. I don't have it, not just because I haven't caught one (which I haven't), but because I don't find it enjoyable to fish in 30 degree weather. I would much rather enjoy fishing when it's in the low 80's, I'm in flip flops and I have a cold beer in my hand. Call me crazy. I won't take credit away from the ones who have. Here are their pictures. We have been enjoying spring, even though it's still snowing I know warm weather is coming so it keeps my spirits up.

R.I.P. Ella

A few posts ago, I asked people to help us come up with a name for our elk. Well she had several names, Cassidy and I called her Ella, the guys named her Norman. Regardless of the name our elk has died. I don't know what we wrong with her but she went quickly. She was young, and I guess that's how mother nature works, the weak die, and the strong survive. Rest in peace Ella.

Weekly snow shoe hike

So a few posts ago I told you about our new adventure of snow shoeing. We were able to get out this weekend and head up a new trail. We took Brian's sister along with us and of course the dogs. The odd thing about it was as we were hiking we were following droplets of blood along the trail. Not big drops, just big enough to notice. Every couple hundred feet there would be a bigger spot of blood. We made it to the creek and we found a large amount of fur, deer fur. While Cassidy and I were examining the fur spot Brian went on ahead, and found the coprit. The deer was small and in about 30 pieces, it was quite fresh and really distrubing. We decided not to go further than the kill so we turned around. It was a georgus day, and I have great pics, I think my favorite pic of the winter was taken that day.

I don't believe in heaven but days like these makes me see god.

My Boy and me

Name for our Elk

What in the world can this post be about? Well we have an Elk. Yes one, it has made his home here, and we need a name. He showed up about last Friday, none of us were interested in him/her. How many elk do we see a day? Well then he/her started to make his/her home right here. Yesterday it decided it was going to hang out behind the store, then it ran out of food so he made his way into the yard, with the dogs... Yes I will say it again, with the dogs, they aren't scared of him and he/she isn't scared of them.

The dogs and our elk spent the day together. It eats all day and they like to eat its poop, they are one happy herd. Today he has made it to the RV Park but always close. If you think about it he/she is pretty smart, one: if he's hanging out with our dogs if anything out of the ordinary comes around they bark and scare it off or they bark and let us know about it. Since he/she isn't afraid of the noise, there is no reason to run away.

Maybe it will move on maybe it won't, but it at least made for an interesting post. The real reason I thought about posting, we need a name for our new friend. We don't know the gender of the Elk but we do know it's young. Any suggestions?

She thinks my tractor sexy!!

It really turns her on...
Yes we have a new tractor. A John Deere; Small story when Brian ran the torch for the olympics his grandpa who was sick, gave him a John Deere gas cap that had a small deer on it and told him to "run like a deere". The day he ran, he kept the gas cap in his pocket. Ever since then he has wanted his very own Deere Tractor, now he has one. And yes he still has the gas cap.

I moved to North Fork and got a mountain man

Before we ever moved to Idaho I had asked Brian to try and grow a beard. He wouldn't do it, not to save his life. After living in North Fork for a year, he has started his mountain man image. See below... enough said.

Long before growing his beard out, he decided to let his hair grow as well. We shall see how long this lasts.

We have been enjoying this relativity easy winter. Hitting the slopes once a week, going for walks and experimenting with the Cafes menu. I hope this year is a good one.

We have also started snow shoeing. It's really fun, and a great exercise. We probably only went about a mile and half, but it was great to get out and see something different, do something different. I want to try and make it a weekly thing. We did take some pictures from that outing.

We are having a super bowl party at the Cafe, bowl of chili and a beverage for$5, if you are around come watch the game with us!!

Oh and I did our taxes today. I'm on top of my game!!!

Adios amigos.

New Year Resolution

Everyone has one, a new years resolution, but why? Why do we insist on bettering ourselves from the year before. Did we suck that bad? I don't know where the new year resolution came from, but like most I try to think of something I could do to better my life. Brian and I have decided we are going to take more picture this year. My mother-in-law bought us a Nikon touch screen camera, (I was so excited). We take the little bugger every where. On the slopes, on the road, on walks, just hanging around the house. I don't know if this has better my life or fixed it in anyway but it's at least fun. I think my resolution should be taking the pictures from the camera and putting them on my computer. I was going to post some pics but, this system is acting stupid, so I will try again later.

On a business note, we are still slow but we are getting a lot of projects done. We are painting the Cafe, and changing the menu around. Friday and Saturday happy hour is going great!!! We are getting more and more people every week. When you live is such a small town, I would say North Fork is a 1/3 of the the size of South Fork (where I grew up). The year around population has got be only 300 (if that). We as a community get pretty bored. This just adds a different environment and breaks up the same ole every day routine. It kind of sucks for me now, since I open Saturday and Sunday mornings, 6:00 am comes pretty fast when you go to bed at 1:00 am. Oh, but is it fun I can't believe in such little time we have great memories with our new community and the people who live in it. Meeting new people is probably the biggest perks to this job.

The weather here is something I have never seen before in my life. It will snow 20" and that night it will rain, and I'm not talking kind of rain I'm talking down right pouring. Last Friday I saw a rainbow, yes a rainbow. In January WTF? The rain makes a mess though, even though its raining and about 37-40 degrees the highway is still freezing and just turns the road to ice. The hill has been great we go at least once a week if not twice, it depends on the amount of cleaning I have. Other than that we are just enjoying were we live and the new friends we have made.
